Top 5 Local Restaurants

One thing our guests love about Celilo Inn is how close it is to a number of restaurants with a wide array of menus.  With so many delicious places to choose from, we decided to narrow it down and provide you with our Top 5 Restaurants list. It was a tough call as there are so many great eateries to choose from. While these are our top 5 favorites, we could have added so many more, but to keep things simple we decided on 5. Enjoy!

5. Corner Pocket

Located across the river in Lyle, Wa, Corner Pocket is a fun, casual place to visit. With billiards, burgers and beer this spot is incredibly popular amongst locals and guests alike. Not only is the service fast and friendly, the entire menu is reasonably priced. Who doesn’t love a delicious, cheap burger?!

4. Clock Tower Ales

Located right down the road from Celilo Inn in The Dalles, OR, Clock Tower Ales is definitely a guest favorite. Originally the Wasco County Courthouse, Clock Tower Ales has taken it over, keeping the historic elements in tact while truly making it their own! With live music, a wide variety of beers and a full menu of great food you can’t go wrong with Clock Tower Ales!

3. Baldwin Saloon

The Baldwin Saloon is another guest and staff favorite. Located in downtown The Dalles, this historic building use to be brothel back in the 1870’s. Now however it is home to pub that relishes its historic roots. A fun, old-timey vibe, the ambiance is cozy and comfortable. The food and drinks area absolutely delicious and the staff are very helpful!

2. The Stonehedge Gardens

If you’re in the mood for something a little romantic you will definitely want to check out The Stonehedge Gardens in Hood River, OR. With beautiful patio and indoor seating, this venue is absolutely breathtaking. On top of that the food is deliciously gourmet. If you have a refined pallet you will definitely want to dine here!

1. Simon’s Cliff House

Located in the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel, Simon’s Cliff House is a delicious and fun place to visit. Frequented by fashion designer Valentino, you can dine in the Valentino lounge and take in the grand experience of it all! Between the ambiance and the award-winning menu you will not be disappointed by your dining experience!

Tis the Season For Fun

One of the great things about December is that there is always something to do! If you’re looking to get out of the city for some down home fun, The Dalles and the surrounding Columbia Gorge communities have just the thing for you. Knowing that this is a busy time of year, we at Celilo Inn have provided you a list of some of the best events around town this month. Enjoy!

December 14th-18th, 20th-23rd:  One of the best things about Christmas is the stories this holiday brings to us. One of the most popular Christmas books, The Polar Express, is an example of the great books that surround this special season! This Christmas, make Mt. Hood Railroad’s Polar Express a family tradition. Passengers are invited to cozy up in their pajamas as Santa’s helpers read the story aloud as the train rushes towards the “North Pole.” Hot chocolate and cookies will be served on the ride, making for a very delicious train ride. Once the train arrives at the “North Pole” passengers will have the opportunity to meet Santa, they will also receive their very own Christmas Bell straight from Santa’s sleigh! December 15th: Who doesn’t love gourmet food and award-winning beer? Full Sail Brewery will be serving up a four course, deliciously gourmet meal. December 16th: It’s been said that laughter is the best medicine, and we want to give you a big dose of it! Stop by the Portage Grill to see a number of hilarious stand-up comedians. For more information call 541-298-3287.
