The Dalles Winery Wins Northwest Recognition

Copa di Vino wine by the glass won a Best in Show White Wine award for its Pinot Grigio at the 75th annual Northwest Food and Wine Festival.   Copa di Vino competed against more than 600 Northwest wines.
Seven years ago,  owner James Martin founded Quenett winery and Sunshine Mill in The Dalles.  His company  sells “wine by the glass,” which translates to “Copa Di Vino” in Italian.  Martin presented his wine by-the-glass venture on the popular ABC show “Shark Tank”.   Sunshine Mill is located in The Dalles, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge.   You can book a special event or enjoy FREE Friday night music through March, 2013.

Celilo Inn Disco Patio Party

Wanting to get our guests ready to boogie the night away at the Earth, Wind and Fire concert this past Saturday at Maryhill Winery, Celilo Inn hosted our first Disco Patio Party!

Starting at 3:30 on a beautiful, sunny afternoon, guests began to mingle on our patio. With spectacular views of The Dalles Dam and the Columbia River as the backdrop to a wonderful start to the night, guests were treated to complimentary burgers and wine. Chowing down on delicious burgers and our very own Celilo Inn Wine, guests were also able to sample Quenette Wine from local Sunshine Mill Winery.

In addition to burgers, views and wine, guests were invited to get down to their favorite songs from the 70’s. One thing is certain, Celilo Inn guests know how to have fun! From one party to another, guests boarded our busses at around 5:30 to head over to Maryhill Winery for the concert.

We love treating our guests to a good time and we look forward to our next Patio Party!

Celilo Inn Saturday Excursion

We are always looking for new and exciting events and packages for our guests. Over the winter we were busy planning out new summer packages and we are proud to announce our new Saturday Excursion package!

Saturday our Celilo Inn bus will pick up guests at 10:30am and take them to The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center is a fun, interactive museum that chronicles the history of the Columbia Gorge. The museum is host to beautiful trails, a birds of prey show and much more. Ticket prices are reduced to $8 for guests on the Saturday Excursion.

After an hour the bus will take guests to the Sunshine Mill. The historic Sunshine Mill is fun to experience, not just for the delicious wine but the fantastic renovations done by the current owners. Wine tastings will be offered to guests at the reduced price of $3. Guests can also choose to walk around downtown The Dalles.

The bus will pick up guests at 1:30 from the Sunshine Mill and return back to Celilo Inn. This is a complimentary service that will be offered until September. Seating is limited so be sure to reserve your seat when making booking your room!

Looking For Something To Do This February?

This month belongs to the either beloved or dreaded Valentine’s Day! But whether you love it or hate it, The Dalles has something for you! Over the next few weeks, Celilo Inn guests can partake in a number of fun events. We’ve provided a partial list below of things happening in and around The Dalles during the month of February.

February 10^th:  This February help support a great cause by purchasing a ticket to the United Way of the Columbia Gorge benefit concert at the Sunshine Mill. Renowned rock concert violinist Aaron Meyer and guitarist Tim Ellis will be performing. You won’t want to miss this amazing concert or the opportunity to help out a good cause. The concert starts at 5:30pm and tickets can be purchased for $20 at the Sunshine Mill.

 

February 11^th: Stop by the Anana’s Copa Cabana between 6:00pm and 9:30pm to listen to the sounds of Richard Wilkins Blues Band. Richard Wilkins is a local artist who is loved by all in the Columbia Gorge! Stop by to see a great show!

 

February 11^th: Looking to give your significant other something unique and hand crafted this year for Valentine’s Day? Stop by the Glassometry Studio to learn how to blow your own glass heart!

February 17^th: The Jim MacMillan Trio is a favorite here in the Columbia Gorge. During the Maryhill Concert Series, Celilo Inn guests could enjoy their music on our patio before the shuttle busses arrived to take them to the concert. Now you can listen to the smooth sounds of Jim MacMillan at the popular The Pines Vineyard tasting room in Hood River. Stop by The Pines between 6:30pm and 9:30pm for delicious wine and great music!

February 18^th-20^th: For all those wine lovers out there, you aren’t going to want to miss the President’s Day Weekend Winery Open House! Stop by any of the wineries in the area for special discounts, releases, foods, music and much more! Fall Fun is Not Far From Celilo Inn

Many people associate The Dalles, Oregon with summer time. With windsurfing, hiking, horseback riding, white water rafting and many other outside activities, The Dalles is definitely the place to be in the summer. However, what many people don’t know is that the Gorge is also a great place to visit in the Fall! With many fun events in and around The Dalles, Celilo Inn guests have plenty to look forward to all year long, but especially in the weeks to come!  Here is a list of upcoming events that Celilo Inn guests can look forward to:

 

October 19^th-20^th:  Looking for a way to relax? Want to de-stress before the Holidays hit? Guests at Celilo Inn can not only relax in our luxurious rooms with complimentary wine but on October 19^th and 20^th they can also stop in at the Cascade Acupuncture Center for a FREE acupuncture session. Appointments can be made between 10:00am and 9:00pm on both days. Just be sure to call and schedule an appointment before hand as spots are sure to fill up! October 20^th-22^nd:  Theater lovers won’t want to miss out on the Columbia Center for the Arts production of Wait Until Dark. Wait Until Dark is a classic thriller that was a hit on Broadway! The play centers around a recently blind women whose husband has given her a doll. The doll happens to be filled with heroine and a trio of drug dealers attempt to get the doll back, using the woman’s blindness to their advantage. A nail biter of a play, this is a must see for Celilo Inn guests with a penchant for suspenseful stories and great theater! Tickets are available online at www.columbiaarts.org. The Columbia Center for the Arts is located at 215 Cascade Street, Hood River, OR, only 30 minutes from Celilo Inn. 

 

 

October 21^st: Like dancing or have wanted to learn?The Dalles is just the place to do it! Stop by Cherry Park Grange Hall on Friday nights at 7:00pm for free Line and Partner dancing lessons at 7:00pm. Lessons followed by open dancing until 10:00pm. A fun event for singles, couples and anyone that can’t resist tapping their foot when the beat moves them! Cherry Park Grange Hall is located at 1002 Lambert Street, only 5 minutes from Celilo Inn!

 

October 21^st-22^nd:  Wine lovers will be happy to hear that there is a new place to check out! This weekend AlmaTerra Wines will be opening their brand new tasting room in Bingen, Washington. Friday at noon there will be a ribbon cutting followed by live music, food and delicious wine until 9:00pm. Saturday the celebration continues with live music, wine, and food as well. AlmaTerra Wines is located at208 W Steuben Street, Bingen, WA, only  30 minutes from Celilo Inn.

 

October 22^nd: Everyone loves an intriguing murder mystery! Join the Mt. Hood Railroad on October 22^nd for their Murder Mystery Dinner Train. The four hour train ride includes amazing views, a four course meal and a fantastic “who-dun-it” performance by the Skamania Performing Arts Foundation. October 29^th: Who says Halloween is just for the kids? Join The Pines Vineyard tasting room on October 29^th for their annual Halloween Dance Party! Always a hit, come in a costumer and dance to fun, funky music by local band Funkship Columbia. This event pairs perfectly with Celilo Inn’s Halloween Weekend Package! October 29^th: Wine lovers and Halloween enthusiasts will not want to miss out on the Sunshine Mill’s 2^nd annual Hallo-Wine Ball! This fun event includes live performances from local musicians, food, wine, beer and scary movies! Come dressed in your best costume since there will be the ever popular costume contest! The Sunshine Mill is located just 5 minutes away from Celilo Inn at  901 E 2^nd street.

One of the great things about Celilo Inn is that it’s located in the heart of Oregon Wine Country. With over 30 different wineries and vineyards in and around The Dalles, OR, wine tasting is usually on our guests’ itinerary!

Maryhill Winery

Maryhill Winery, located 25 minutes from Celilo Inn in Goldendale, WA, is one of the biggest, most renowned wineries in the Northwest. Maryhill opened its doors in 2001 and has been exponentially growing and improving ever since. Currently the winery produces 18 different varietals and 27 different wines! In 2009, Maryhill Winery was voted Washington Winery of the Year by Wine Press Northwest. Over the years Maryhillhas won countless awards for a number of their wines.

On our wine tour you will have the opportunity to taste a variety of their wines, including some of the award winners! The wines available for tasting change regularly, so every time you go it’s a new experience. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and dedicated to making your wine tasting experience a memorable one.

The winery is located on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River. If you find a wine you like, you can purchase a glass or bottle and sit on the beautiful, Italian style patio–enjoying your wine and the view.

 

Cascade Cliffs Vineyard and Winery

In our wine tour package you will also have the chance to visit the Cascade Cliffs Vineyard and Winery. The winery is located 20 minutes from Celilo Inn in Wishram,WA.

A smaller winery, Cascade Cliffs is dedicated to creating wines that are pure and simple yet profoundly delicious. The wine makers have taken example from the beautiful, authentic natural surroundings and have infused this natural beauty into their wine.

Wine tasting takes place in the winery where you also have the opportunity to see the wine makers in action due to their open-to-the-public view of their production room. The winery has a rustic charm. Visitors can sit inside or out while they relax and sip on one of Cascade Cliffs luscious wines.

 

Waving Tree Winery and Vineyards

Another possible stop in our wine tour package is Waving Tree Winery and Vineyards. Just like Maryhill, Waving Tree is located 25 minutes from Celilo Inn in Goldendale,WA.

Dry Hollow Vineyards

Surrounded by the Hi-Valley Cherry Orchard, the soil and scenery provide perfect conditions for growing and enjoying wines at Dry Hollow Vineyards. Dry Hollow is located in The Dalles, just 15 minutes from Celilo Inn.

Atop a hill, the views from the tasting room are truly breathtaking all year round. A visit to Dry Hollow is worth it just for the views, but a taste of their wines is the Hi-Valley Cherry on top!

Marshal’s Winery

Marshal’s Winery, located 15 minutes from Celilo Inn in Dallesport,WA, is one of the possible stops on the wine tour.

which was established in 1998, has been a family business from the beginning. In fact, Marshal’s was named after the owner’s son!  The familial spirit of Marshal’s has carried over to the pourers who will make you feel right at home as you taste their carefully crafted wines.

Marshal’s produces 11 different wines, one of which received the Silver medal at the Tri-City Wine Festival! The wines range from the classic to Marshal’s custom blends. The small town charm paired with the tasty wines makes for a fun and charming experience.

 

Sunshine Mill

Sunshine Mill is a historic gem. Located only 5 minutes from Celilo Inn, it’s an amazing place to visit just for the history alone!

Originally the Sunshine Mill was an old wheat mill that was in operation for 130 years. Now, however, it acts as a tasting room. When the new owners took over they made sure to restore and preserve much of the building’s history. Much of the original equipment is still there, creating a fun atmosphere for wine tasting.

The Sunshine Mill acts as the tasting room for two local wineries, Quenett and Copa Di Vino. With one stop you have the opportunity to taste wines from two amazing wineries! Currently Sunshine Mill provides 10 different wines to choose from.

The staff is passionate, not only about the wines, but the building’s history as well. When on the Celilo Inn wine tour you’ll be able to sip on delicious wine from local wineries while exploring a piece of history.
