Celilo Inn Disco Patio Party

Wanting to get our guests ready to boogie the night away at the Earth, Wind and Fire concert this past Saturday at Maryhill Winery, Celilo Inn hosted our first Disco Patio Party!

Starting at 3:30 on a beautiful, sunny afternoon, guests began to mingle on our patio. With spectacular views of The Dalles Dam and the Columbia River as the backdrop to a wonderful start to the night, guests were treated to complimentary burgers and wine. Chowing down on delicious burgers and our very own Celilo Inn Wine, guests were also able to sample Quenette Wine from local Sunshine Mill Winery.

In addition to burgers, views and wine, guests were invited to get down to their favorite songs from the 70’s. One thing is certain, Celilo Inn guests know how to have fun! From one party to another, guests boarded our busses at around 5:30 to head over to Maryhill Winery for the concert.

Bicycles For Rent

Wine Is The COR Of The Gorge

Celilo Inn is proud to be located in the heart of Wine Country. Many of our guests spend their time here going from winery to vineyard, tasting wines and taking in the magnificent views. One of the nearby wineries that we love is COR Cellars.

COR Cellars is located across the river in Lyle, WA and overlooks the rolling hills of the Columbia Gorge. Established in 2005, COR has been producing delicious and award winning wines. COR also boasts their own vineyard which is visible from the tasting room. The winery produces a variety of wines and you are certain to find one that you love. They produce the following wines:

• Cabernet Sauvignon
• Malbec
• Petit Verdot
• Riesling
• Pinot Gris
• Gewurztraminer

The wines are made from a combination of grapes from their vineyard as well as ones purchased from the Columbia Valley.

Celilo Inn Saturday Excursion

We are always looking for new and exciting events and packages for our guests. Over the winter we were busy planning out new summer packages and we are proud to announce our new Saturday Excursion package!

Saturday our Celilo Inn bus will pick up guests at 10:30am and take them to The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center is a fun, interactive museum that chronicles the history of the Columbia Gorge. The museum is host to beautiful trails, a birds of prey show and much more. Ticket prices are reduced to $8 for guests on the Saturday Excursion.

After an hour the bus will take guests to the Sunshine Mill. The historic Sunshine Mill is fun to experience, not just for the delicious wine but the fantastic renovations done by the current owners. Wine tastings will be offered to guests at the reduced price of $3. Guests can also choose to walk around downtown The Dalles.

The bus will pick up guests at 1:30 from the Sunshine Mill and return back to Celilo Inn. This is a complimentary service that will be offered until September. Seating is limited so be sure to reserve your seat when making booking your room!

Just Fun This June

Summer is almost here and so is Father’s Day! That means there are lots of fun things happening in The Dalles and we don’t want our Celilo Inn guests to miss out on any of them! If you’re planning a trip to stay with us this month, be sure to check out some of the following events:

June 15^th:  If you’re looking for a laugh you will not want to miss the stand-up comedy of David Crowe. He will be performing at The Pine’s Vineyard tasting room at 7:00pm. If wine, good times and laughter sound like something you would enjoy, be sure to get your tickets; $10 in advance or $15 at the door. June 16^th: Who doesn’t love a good Farmers Market? Come join us for The Dalles Saturday Farmers Market in The Dalles City Park. The market is open 9:00am-1:00pm and is full of delicious produce, activities, music and much more. We guarantee you’ll enjoy this charming Farmers Market. 

June 17^th: Make this Father’s Day extra special by taking him for a ride on the Mt. Hood Railroad express! This Father’s Day Mt. Hood Railroad will be hosting a Father’s Day Brunch ride through the Gorge. Your dad will be sure to love the food, scenery, train and your company! The Dalles Has Events Blossoming Up All Over

This April Celilo Inn guests are in for a treat! There are a number of fun events happening in the area this April including the popular Northwest Cherry Festival. If you’re planning a visit to The Dalles this month, you’re going to want to check out one of these fun events!

April 13^th-15^th:  Join the Columbia Gorge Wineries for their Wineries Passport Weekend! If you purchase a passport for $15 you’ll have the opportunity to not only explore the beautiful Gorge but to go wine tasting at 26 local, award-winning wineries. April 21^st: If you’re a train enthusiast or you love history the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center is the place to be April 21^st. Join them for a symposium on the historic railroads of Wasco County and the Celilo Canal. This event begins at noon. For more information call 541-296-8600.

April 22^nd: Whether you’re an avid cyclist or you just feel like exploring the Gorge in a new way you’ll want to check out the 8^th annual Cherry of a Ride. This event is open to only 350 riders so be sure to register at cherryofaride.org to ensure your spot! There are a number of trails for riders with various experience levels. Routes are open between 6am and 9am and close at 5pm. Come explore The Dalles in a new way!

April 27^th-28^th: This fun event is an Oregon favorite! While many event details are still coming, some things you can count on are the “It’s the Pits” lip sync

There are a number of fun things to do in the Columbia Gorge, especially in and around The Dalles. One thing that many of the Celilo Inn guests love to do is go wine tasting, and they really couldn’t pick a better location to do so! With over 30 award-winning wineries located within 45 minutes of Celilo Inn, wine tours are a great way to spend time with a significant other, family, or group of friends. Whether you’re going on a wine tour or are just passing through, one winery you’re going to want to stop at for sure is Cascade Cliffs.

Located across the river off of Highway 14 in Wishram, Washington, Cascade Cliffs’ winery and vineyard has been a wine lovers favorite for over 20 years. Looking For Something To Do This February?

This month belongs to the either beloved or dreaded Valentine’s Day! But whether you love it or hate it, The Dalles has something for you! Over the next few weeks, Celilo Inn guests can partake in a number of fun events. We’ve provided a partial list below of things happening in and around The Dalles during the month of February.

February 10^th:  This February help support a great cause by purchasing a ticket to the United Way of the Columbia Gorge benefit concert at the Sunshine Mill. Renowned rock concert violinist Aaron Meyer and guitarist Tim Ellis will be performing. You won’t want to miss this amazing concert or the opportunity to help out a good cause. The concert starts at 5:30pm and tickets can be purchased for $20 at the Sunshine Mill.

 

February 11^th: Stop by the Anana’s Copa Cabana between 6:00pm and 9:30pm to listen to the sounds of Richard Wilkins Blues Band. Richard Wilkins is a local artist who is loved by all in the Columbia Gorge! Stop by to see a great show!

 

February 11^th: Looking to give your significant other something unique and hand crafted this year for Valentine’s Day? Stop by the Glassometry Studio to learn how to blow your own glass heart!

February 17^th: The Jim MacMillan Trio is a favorite here in the Columbia Gorge. During the Maryhill Concert Series, Celilo Inn guests could enjoy their music on our patio before the shuttle busses arrived to take them to the concert. Now you can listen to the smooth sounds of Jim MacMillan at the popular The Pines Vineyard tasting room in Hood River. Stop by The Pines between 6:30pm and 9:30pm for delicious wine and great music!

Celilo Guests See Styx

Aside from their delicious wine, Maryhill Winery is also known for their great summer concerts that take places in their outdoor amphitheater. This past Saturday Yes and Styx performed at Maryhill!  As part of a deal between Celilo Inn and Maryhill Winery, we provide our guests with a complimentary shuttle service to and from the concert. This past Saturday was no exception!

 

Concerts can be a lot of fun, but going on an empty stomach is no fun at all! When you can’t hear the music over your stomach growling there’s a problem. Not wanting this to happen to our guests, at 3:00 pm Celilo Inn kicked off a complimentary, pre-concert barbeque. The barbeque took place on our patio that overlooks the beautiful Columbia River and The Dalles Dam. Since the Celilo Inn is located in The  Dalles, of course it was a beautiful, warm afternoon.

Like any good barbeque Celilo Inn served our guests mouthwatering hamburgers and cheeseburgers. They could top their burgers off with an assortment of condiments. Since no barbeque would be complete without chips, Celilo Inn provided delicious Kettle Chips to compliment the tasty burgers. To add a little sweet to the savory, our guests could also fill up on juicy grapes!

 

Not wanting our guests to be thirsty, red and white wine was available for our guests as well as ice cold lemon water. Celilo Inn also invited Quenett Winery to provide our guests with a complimentary wine tasting. Quenett provided two red wines and one white. On this gorgeous summer day, the Pinot Gris seemed to be our guests wine of choice, and for good reason! It is an extremely delicious wine, especially for a hot day!

Bill Coones' Jazz Trio

To top it all off, Bill Coones’ Jazz Trio performed live on our patio. The upbeat, relaxing jazz music helped set a nice tone to the barbeque.

 

At 5:00 pm it was time for our guests to head on their way. All in all, our guests had a great time gearing up for the concert on our patio. Full and happy, our guests boarded the complimentary shuttle to Maryhill to enjoy Yes and Styx live! With the concert starting at7:00 pm, guests were given ample time to get their seats and explore Maryhill Winery if they so chose.

 

After the concert, guests boarded the shuttle and came back to Celilo Inn. Since shuttles get to leave first, our guests did not have to wait to get out of the parking lot, or deal with traffic. When they returned to Celilo, although tired, many voiced that they had a blast and couldn’t wait to come back for another concert at Maryhill and a stay at the Celilo Inn.
